“I create work that is non-sensical and chaotic. The way the mind works while asleep. Thus my images represent a point between dreams and night terrors. The world of which I create is the one of which I would most like to live, Animated, without general acknowledgment for rules or morality, sinister and humorous all at once. The idea when painting is to portray something that simply cannot exist within the realm of reality. All at once amalgamated with a substantial amount of benevolent and malevolent adherence.

My process is one of little planning. I often let the piece take on its own persona by divine right, after obtaining a general idea. This I believe is the essence of chaos. The less sense I can convey, the more successful the piece. Pink bunnies, offset rooms, blank malicious stares, and random patchwork often make appearances in my work for no apparently good reason.

Inspiration commonly comes from creative minds that work in alternative mediums. Musicians, Philosophers, and writers, have taken their place alongside painters in pushing me toward my vision. The most notable would be Jack Kerouac and his spontaneous prose: The idea of writing without stopping to think. This is what I attempt to convey when asked what my work “means.” Sometimes it’s better to not think about it too much. The non-sensical music of Les Claypool can be seen in my work as well. The surrealist painters play a large part, however, visually, the artist I take the most from is Dr. Seuss, of whom I grew up reading. I believe above all else, art should be fun, both to create and to admire. Sometimes what you see is what you get, and what you get can simply be enjoyable to see.”
