Andre Rochester is an emerging artist from the Hartford Metropolitan area. He studied Illustration at the University of Connecticut, School of Fine Arts and is currently pursuing a degree in business (entrepreneurial studies). He has been painting and drawing since childhood and is proficient in charcoal, color pencil, pastel, acrylic, oil, and various printmaking processes When asked about his work he states, “I don’t necessarily want my artwork to be categorized or given any special genre. At the present time my work is about free expression. Although some of my work may have a specific theme or message to portray, I feel that interpretation should be left to the viewer and based on whatever emotion or thought comes to them as they observe the piece. My artwork is always evolving.” Andre has been working on a series of portraits and conceptual paintings since late 2009.
